TRIZOS | VILAGARCÍA DE AROUSA
The TRIZOS House is located in a village near the town of Vilagarcía, in a rural area where the urban housing is mixed with small farms.
The access, the topography and the geometry of the plot worked as the main conditioning factors of the project, being the most remarkable a small stream that runs along one of its sides.
The integration of the new building into its environment was a priority objective. For this reason, the housing program was organized on two levels to better adapt to the topography and minimize the impact of the intervention on the landscape.
The layout of the house diagonally on the plot helps to preserve its privacy from the public road. The volumetric composition emphasizes the entrance which is marked by a porch.
The inside of the house is completely open to the back of the plot, in order to allow the relationship of the day area with the garden and the swimming pool.
On the outside, the house is organized into two volumes that are arranged slightly staggered and separated from each other, corresponding to the daytime and nighttime areas, respectively.
The concrete walls of the enclosures give the house a stony character that harmonizes fully with the traditional constructions of the area, giving the new building an appropriate degree of contemporaneity.
The subtle color of the concrete in a light beige tone harmonizes with the earthy color of the exterior carpentry and the wooden coverings in the entrance area and bedrooms.
The large opening in the living room allows the main rooms of the house to extend the garden and pool, extending the spaces to the outside.
The opening of a generous skylight in the study brings natural light into the center of the home, as well as adding warmth and serenity to the space.
