ESPEDREGADA | POIO

Espedregada

Located in the town of Poio, in a privileged enclave with an important landscape value, the house has exceptional views over the Pontevedra estuary and the island of Tambo.

An environment of contemplation and relaxation

The landscape and the steep slope of the plot were the main conditioning factors of the project. In order to favor the views over the estuary, an environment for contemplation and relaxation was created on different levels.

Terraced platforms

The house was built on the slope in an organic manner on three horizontal platforms, which, like trays, descend towards the estuary. The terraced design minimized the impact of the building on the surroundings, adapting naturally to the terrain.

The terraced platforms extend over the facade, accentuating the horizontal character of the house and protecting the openings from the sun. Their stone finish emphasizes the contrast with the wide glass panels.

Privacy

Access to the house is through the hillside facade, which, in contrast to the front elevation facing the estuary, has a more intimate character in order to achieve a greater degree of privacy.

On the upper level is located the entrance hall along with the garage and the guest area, which was provided with its own office and living room open to the landscape.

The courtyard

The courtyard on the main facade breaks with the horizontal character of the house, while allowing visual communication between the different levels.

The presence of a natural environment is reinforced by a 13.5 meter high maple tree, which frames the views and generates a diverse image of the house with the passing of the seasons.

The Staircase

The broken geometry of the courtyard extends towards the staircase, favoring crossed perspectives between the different levels of the house.

The use of glass railings on the staircase and the absence of partitions contributed to give continuity to the space and achieve a diaphanous space.

The night area

On the intermediate level, a patio was opened to provide lighting and views to the circulation spaces of the night area, consisting of the master bedroom and three secondary bedrooms.

The day zone

On the lower level of the house, in direct relation to the swimming pool and the garden, the day area was designed in continuity with the outdoor space.

The materials used in the construction of the house, as well as the furniture used, contribute to highlight the design of the project by emphasizing its main lines.
