PENENTE | MEIS
The Penente House is located in the heart of the Val do Salnés, surrounded by farmland and vineyards, in an area of high landscape value where small streams and groves abound.
The rural character of the environment determined the choice of materials and the volumetric composition of the house, which by means of fragmentation seeks to adapt its scale to that of the existing traditional buildings.
The project is strategically placed on the plot to make the most of the exceptional panoramic views and to regulate the entry of natural light, adapting smoothly to the slope of the land.
The house consists of two volumes of equal length, arranged in parallel and resolved with identical gable roof. The first contains the night area and the second the day area, which stands out from the rest of the house due to its greater height.
The exterior of the house is resolved with a continuous stone plinth on which the different volumes of the roof are settled and whose finish is reminiscent of the whitewashed walls of popular architecture.
The landscaping of the plot has been conceived to complement the architecture of the house and emphasize its coherence with the surroundings. Its design adapts to the characteristics of the terrain, creating a home that seems to have always been there.
The visual connection between inside and outside of the house was one of the main objectives of the project. Its organization allows for the creation of spaces that facilitate its integration with the landscape. In addition, the large openings, terraces and porches allow nature to be incorporated into the interior, creating a sense of continuity and harmony.
The spaces are organized in such a way that the house is functional and easy to live in. We have sought to create an environment that is not only practical, but also welcoming and pleasant. In addition, design elements have been incorporated to add warmth and character, such as lighting and furniture.
Inside, the wooden structure of the roof of the studio volume and the living area stands out, which, thanks to its height, provides greater warmth and luminosity to the space.
From the inside, the relationship with the outside is enhanced, either through the views of the valley or the plot itself, but also with the relationships between the rooms, so the circulation areas take on greater importance, mainly with the staircase leading to the studio.
The Penente House is presented as another element of the territory. Both its architecture and the landscaping of the plot have been conceived to blend with the surrounding landscape, resulting in a house that seems to have emerged naturally on the site.
