CASA ALBOR | CAMBADOS
The ALBOR house is located in the neighborhood of San Tomé, and is part of the historic center of the town of Cambados. The project is the result of the search for a harmonious balance between the traditional and the contemporary. The recovery of the original stone and its reinforcement by combining it with other materials are the essence of the project.
Rehabilitation
The house reflected the signs of time, but the masonry elements kept their potential intact. The restoration of these elements became the centerpiece of the project and their recovery conditioned the rest of the design.
Design
The initial planning phase was essential to preserve as many elements as possible while designing and incorporating current needs and comforts.
Authenticity
During the construction phase, you can see how the craftsmen meticulously restored the original elements, such as the stone walls. Every detail was carefully considered to respect the authenticity of the house while improving other aspects.
Sustainbility
The materials used in the renovation are local, respecting the historical and natural environment of Santo Tomé. The choice of these materials is not only aesthetic but also reflects a commitment to the environment.
The house integrates perfectly into the fishing district of Santo Tomé, respecting its cultural identity. The recovery of traditional elements, such as woodwork, visually connects the house with its context.
The recovered stone walls have been restored and highlighted to preserve the historical authenticity. In front of these elements, wooden lattices are contrasted and become focal points, telling the past and the present.
Stairway
One of the highlights of the house is the staircase, designed with the same ceramic tiles as the other rooms and a handrail of lacquered bars. Being framed between the original stone and the wooden latticework emphasizes the integration of materials.
Courtyard
The backyard is recovered, turning it into a space that complements the house. The restoration of this space recovers an essential part of the life of the seafaring neighborhoods and integrates harmoniously into the overall project.
